Las ferias!

In preparation for Christmas I spent quite a bit of time at the fairs...too much time. But there's so much to look at! The fairs are crazy...full of consumers, things to consume, and dogs...because there's always dogs.

At the ferias you can always bargain, and you can always find some awesome stuff, random stuff, and really cheap crap that you don't need. It's hard to save your money when walking through a feria...it seems to just jump out of your pockets and into the hands of these sweet-talking Chileans. Oh well...I got what I needed and some sweet gifts too so it's not all bad.

No it's not Calvin Klein, it's Gioven Kelvin...WAY better......

Chilean Christmas 2013

Christmas came. And I wasn't in Minnesota. And that was weird. But I was lucky to have people to spend it with at least. Here in Chile they celebrate Christmas Eve instead of Christmas day, and they excitedly count down to midnight like little kids so that they can open their presents. I had an interesting day...first time I ever got a sunburn on Christmas before, we made dinner, opened presents, and I shared my delicious homemade Christmas cookies with everyone to try. Not the same as being at home, but it'll do.

Christmas cookie extravaganza

Well since I didn't have my girls back home to bake with, I had to do it by myself. I bought all the ingredients I could find to make some traditional Christmas cookies and had to make do with what I found. I think it turned out pretty great though...7 types of cookies in two days to share and eat! Next year I'll be home to do it with the fam!
